about
This song was written by my producer, Rusty Varenkamp, Alan Powell of Anthem Lights, and Keith Everette Smith. When Rusty brought the song to the table for me to record it, it was just a natural fit. The chorus really hit home to me because I was in a time in life where God challenging me with this question over and over- "Will you continue to trust and follow me no matter what happens?". I've learned that how each one of us chooses to respond to that question when we're inevitably faced with it is what really shapes our faith. In that moment, when we feel like we're stretched beyond what we're capable of handling on our own, we find out how small we are yet how great and loving our God is. The moment that we choose to say "yes" is the moment that we're able to rely on God more deeply when we ever have before.
lyrics
Here was the situation
All of my tribulation
Had me really feeling low
All of my drive was dyin’
Even my heart was cryin’
I was hanging from the end of my rope
That’s when the light came on inside
And I said
CHORUS
Oh, if this is what it takes
To get me close to you
If this is what it takes
There’s nothing I won’t do
I’d face the fire
Swim the ocean too
If this is what it takes
To get me close to you
I know that it won’t be easy
Never been this far, so lead me
Doesn’t matter where we go
This is my resolution
You have the right solution
To the problem of forever alone
That’s when the light came on inside
There’s nothing I won’t do for you it’s true, I promise you
